In regards to Bitzer's "The Rhetorical Situation", a rhetorical situation can easily be defined as a conglomerate of potential exigency that can be modified by human action or thought. Rhetorical situations are brought about by events, such as Chairman Xi discussing a return to Confucian values in response to civil unrest. One example Bitzer explicitly details is Churchill's frequency addressing the people in response to Nazi advances. One, however, must know the definition of exigence, from exigency. Exigence is a case that demands a response. Exigency however, is only rhetorical when it can be changed by human thought or interaction. A tsunami or even death is something that cannot be modified no matter how much one wills it.
A composition I listened to this week was "AGAIN" written by Crusher-P, mixed by TheLivingTombstone, and sung by ARAKI. It is a musical composition I was able to listen to online, therefore the media is digital. The mode is simply audio. The language style can be categorized as laconic, or using few words to describe something in great detail. This laconic style is often mysterious. The target audience is people who can access the internet, and who frequent YouTube music. The rhetorical genre is Epideictic because the song is concerned with the blame of oneself, while the Rhetorical appeal is pathos, to evoke emotion. The style of the lyrics, or syntax is descriptive. The lyricist seeks to share the feeling of the protagonist with the audience.
